Hello and Happy Halloween!
We are so excited about our event this weekend…? Tarot and treats!? Come by on Saturday and with your purchase of $10 or more you will get a free tarot card reading.? Plus, goodie bags for kids, treats for all and 25% off of all our Halloween decorations.
It promises to be a fun event.? About three years ago?a few friends and I gave a baby shower for another friend.? Not being one for traditional baby shower games we used the theme Tapas and Tarot.? (Alliteration is a good thing.)? We had wonderful Spanish tapas and we each received a free Tarot card reading from Geraldine Amaral.? Everyone talked about their reading and what they thought it meant.? It was an instant conversation starter for a group of new friends.??To top?off all the fun?everyone took home a jar of yummy marinated olives.? It was a great shower!? I highly recommend this type of party – it’s fun for any occasion.
So you can join the fun… here’s the marinated olives recipe.? It comes from the cookbook Tapas: The Little Dishes of Spain by Penelope Casas…
Green Olives, Sevilla Style
A 7-ounce jar large green Spanish olives, drained and lightly crushed
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp crushed rosemary
1/2 tsp thyme
2 bay leaves
1/2 tsp fennel seed
4 cloves garlic, lightly crushed and peeled
4 tbsp vinegar
4 anchovy fillets (optional – I chose not to)
Place the olives in a glass jar in which they just fit.? Add all other ingredients, then fill the jar with water.? Shake well and marinate at room temperature for several days.? They will keep for weeks in the refrigerator, but do bring them to room temperature before serving.
I think I made about a dozen of these.? It’s a really easy assembly line project.? I put them in cute little clasp jars that I got for about $2.50 at World Market.? Then I put the recipe on a sweet little notecard and attached it to the jar with grosgrain ribbon – jute twine would be cute too.? Enjoy!? Would love to hear how your Tarot party goes…
See you Saturday!? Amy
