DIY Workshop

Spring is here and that means home improvement!

For most of us that means strapping on the ol’ tool belt, dusting off the power tools and getting down to business.

No one in Old Town knows how to do that better than our friends Wendy and Alex Santantonio of the blog Old Town Home. And, on April 26, Old Town’s super-DIYers will share what they do with you.

Get all your Spring DIY questions answered.

Wendy and Alex will be on hand to help you with advice for all your home projects.

Submit your DIY question in advance using the “Leave a Reply” box below and they will come to your rescue.

  • Not sure what tool to use? They will know.
  • Want to refinish your own hardwood floors but aren’t sure where to start? They will know.
  • Struggling with the right paint finish? They can help.

If you don’t have a question, that’s okay. Come and hear their DIY adventures. Every home project there is always a story behind it!

I have been thinking of pepping up our concrete patio for a while now and wanted to explore staining it (with a safe stain that doesn’t harm my adjacent plants) I’m not sure how much work, what is the best product, how long it will last, and what the process entails…..I would love some suggestions for other solutions different from staining as well. The patio is on the north side of the house so it gets rather moldy over time and we have to power wash it to keep it from getting slippery and slimy….I assume anything we do will have to keep that in mind. thanks!

I want to paint over my large white wooden bedroom furniture with a deep dark brown color. I’m not sure where to start with this. What is the best way to prep/ strip the furniture and then paint it? Do I paint the drawers first?

I will be sure to bring pictures, dimensions and one of the knobs so you can get an idea of what I need!

I’ve had some difficulty with a mirror over my fireplace. It’s large and difficult to hang. My lovely neighbor helped me pick it out and I really need to get it hung.. Any suggestions on how to hang it???
